There are at least two ancestries for John Hastings (or Hastangs as Magna Charta Sureties names him). Some internet sources have him a son of Laurence Hastings, Earl of Pembroke. However I believe that the Leamington House places him with the Hastang family who were based in Leamington Hastings for centuries.
