Matilda was born in 1117 in Dunstanville, Kent, England.1   Matilda's father was King Henry (Beauclerc) England I and her mother was Isabel (Bellmont) Elizabeth Beaumont.  Her paternal grandparents were William (The Conqueror) de Normandie and Matilda (Maud) of Flanders; her maternal grandparents were 1st Earl of Leicester Robert de Beaumont I and Isabel (Elizabeth) De Crepi. She had three sisters named Alice, Constance and Isabel. She had six half-brothers and twelve half-sisters, named The Consul, Henry, Reginald, William, Baldwin, Richard I, Maud, Elizabeth, Matilda, Adelaide, Sibyl, Elizabeth, Constance, Gundred, Emma, Alice, Agnes and Basilia.
