Miles was born the 14th of February, 1827 in White County, Tennessee, USA the second child of William Humberston Wheelon Crabtree and _____ ______ .(1) Miles married 1) Catherine Pinkston the 12th of March, 1849 in Daviess County, Kentucky, USA. She was born about 1832 in Kentucky to Hardin Pinkston and Peggy ______. Miles and Catherine had one son, William H. Crabtree, born in 1850 in Kentucky. Catherine and William H. died between 1850 and 1853 in Kentucky.
Miles married 2) Ibbey Jane Shipley about 1853 in Madison County, Arkansas, USA. She was born about 1831 in Tennessee the second child of Benjamin Franklin Shipley, Sr. and Sarah "Sally" Burkett. She was living in Washington County, Arkansas, USA by 1841. Her family moved to Crawford County, Arkansas, USA by 1845. Ibbey Jane was living with her mother's brother, George Washington Burkett, during the 1850 Madison County, Arkansas census (His name was misspelled as Bucket.).
Miles was the brother of Ansadona Crabtree, the wife of Ibbey Jane's brother William Park Shipley. Miles was also the brother of William Thomas Crabtree, the second husband of Ibbey's sister, Susan Arabella Shipley. Miles and Ibbey had eight children: Isabelle born about 1854, William Riley born in 1855, Almira Jane born in 1857, Sarah A. born in 1859, Mary T. born in 1861, Martha T. born in 1865, Nathan, and Thomas. Isabelle is said to have been born in Kentucky and all the other children were born in Arkansas.(2)
Miles enlisted for the Confederacy the 5th of July, 1862 as a private in the 35th Arkansas Infantry County, K King's Regiment, Northwest Division Trans-Mississippi District at Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas, USA. He was 5'11" tall with blue eyes, dark hair, and a dark complexion. He deserted the 28th of October, 1862 and again the 10th of January, 1863. He was dropped from the roll the 1st of April, 1863.
Ibbey Jane died about 1870 in Franklin County, Arkansas, USA. She is buried in Wagner Cemetery in Franklin County, Arkansas, USA.(3) Miles then married 3) Elizabeth Carty about 1873 in Arkansas. They had one daughter, Addie Crabtree, born in 1874. Miles died between 1911 and 1912 in Harrelton, Crawford County, Arkansas, USA. He is buried in Baxter Cemetery in Crawford County, Arkansas, USA.

Height 5'11", nativity of White County, Tennessee; farmer. Enlisting for period of 3 years; desserted 28 Oct. 1862 and again 10 Jan. 1863. Dropped from roll 1 Apr. 1863. Miles and his family moved to Franklin County, Arkansas after the Civil War and then to Madison County, Arkansas and lived on the old Beneux plantation.
