Richard Butler Earl of Arran 
Richard was born in 1638. Richard's father was James Butler 13th Earl, 1st Duke of Ormonde, Viscount Thurles and his mother was Elizabeth 'Baroness Dingwall' Preston dau of Sir Richard Preston, Lord Dingwall. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Butler Viscount Thurles (dvp 15.12.1619) and Elizabeth Poyntz dau of Sir John Poyntz of Acton. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, Elisabeth and Mary. He died at the age of 47 in 1685.General Notes
