Miles was born on October 6th, 1832 in Grayson Co., Kentucky.1   Miles' father was John P. Beatty and his mother was Elmina McGrew.  His paternal grandparents were William Beatty and Delilah Pirtle; his maternal grandparents were Reed McGrew and Mary (Polly) Fulkerson. He had four brothers and a sister, named William, Adam, John, Andrew and Delilah.  He was the fifth oldest of the six children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, William, James, Henry, Emily and Nancy.1

Miles and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony on September 26th, 1902 in Gross Cementary, Breckinridge, Kentucky.2  They had a son and a daughter, named Miles and Clara.

Miles and Lydia were married in a religious ceremony. They had five sons and three daughters, named William, Herbert, James, Thomas, Henry, Mattie, Cinderella and Nancy.
