Sir Ralph Basset 1st Baron Basset 
Ralph was born in 1246 in Stafford, England.1 Ralph's father was Lord Ralph Basset IV and his mother was Margaret de Somery. His paternal grandparents were Ralph Basset III and Isabel; his maternal grandparents were Roger de Somery and Nicole d' Aubigny. He had a sister named Maud. He had two half-brothers named Ralph and Ulker. He died at the age of 53 on December 31st, 1299.1 General Notes

BARONY of BASSET (of Drayton) (I)
RALPH BASSET, son and heir, served in the French ai-id Scottish wars. He succeeded his father 4 August 1265. He held lands of Ralph Basset of Weldon 1284/5; he was summoned to attend the King at Shrewsbury, 28 June 1283 and was summoned to Parlliament 23 June 1295 to 10 April 1299I, by writs directed Radulfo Basset de Drayton, whereby he is held to have become LORD BASSET OF DRAYTON. ) He married Hawise.
