Isaac was born on March 4th, 1834.  Isaac's father was Joseph Allen and his mother was Nancy Harris.  His paternal grandparents were William Allen and Mary Rollison. He had a brother and three sisters, named Joseph, Elizabeth, Susan and Mary.  He was the third oldest of the five children.

Isaac and Nancy were married.  They had six sons and three daughters, named William, James, John, Joe, Bluford, Doug, Alice, Sally and Jane.
