Barney was born on September 25th, 1907 in TN.  Barney's father was Druey Dillon Simmons and his mother was Martha Lou 'Patty' Sparkman.  His paternal grandparents were William Simmons and Susannah E. Adair. He had three brothers and six sisters, named J. Dillon, Roy C., Druey Bernice, May, Ada, Frances Lydia, Dolly F., Alta L. and Ethel A..  He was the fourth youngest of the ten children. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Charles, Rhea, Ernest, Emma and Lou.  He died at the age of 89 on October 20th, 1996 in Dallas, Dallas Co, TX.
