Emmett Bruce was born on October 9th, 1899 in Caldwell Co, NC.  Emmett Bruce's father was Thomas Locke Sigmon and his mother was Geneva Frances 'Eva' Tilley.  His maternal grandparents were Emmett Harrison Tilley and Sarah Jane Guest. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas Wayne, Ray Andrew, David Holmon, Charles Vernon, Mabel Geneva, Irma Margaret and Frances Alma.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 71 on March 5th, 1971 in Asheville, Buncombe Co, NC.  He was buried on March 7th, 1971 in Calvary Episcopal Church Cemetery, Buncombe Co, NC.
