Narrative
James McGavock immigrated to Philadelphia about 1754-55 and sought abusiness in farming around Augusta Co., VA. He purchased a wagon &team, and for a time, was engaged in carrying provisions for the Armyunder General Braddock during the Revolutionary War.
His home in Ireland was called "Carnton", and his son, Randal,built the Carnton located in Williamson Co., TN, near Franklin.
