John Gazlay, Sr.

John Gazlay was born in Goshen, New York on July 9, 1722. -DAR Records.

Records of Crum Elbow Precinct, Dutchess County, NY.

In 1754, 1775 and 1780, John Gasley was chosen overseer of highways.
In 1760 he was chosen pender, in 1762 chosen pentor, in 1763 pendor, in 1764 and 1765 pounder, in 1766 pender, in 1775 Pound Keeper, in 1777-1786 Pound Master. In 1762 he was "Inventorey of Intested Estates" and in 1783 he was "Appriser of Entestate Estates". He was fence viewer in 1773, 1774, 1777-1784. He was overseer of the poor in 1778 and 1786.
