John Martin, Sr. and Catherine his wife (mentioned above) emigrated to America in 1773 , locating in New Jersey. He enlisted in the army of the Revolutionists and served through the remainder of the " War for Independence". The residence of John and Catherine Martin in New Jersey was near Trenton, New Jersey. The battle of Trenton was fought upon a portion of their farm. During the preparation of the revolutionary forces for that battle and during it's progress, Catherine Martin, with other women of the locality, moulded bullets for the troops and in other ways aided the soldiers. After the close of the Revolution, John Martin, Sr. and Catharine, his wife, with their family in 1789, removed to western Pennsylvania, locating on French Creek, in Venango County, and at a point three or four miles above the present town of Utica, and probably 12 miles from Franklin. John Martin , Sr. died their, in the home of John Martin Jr. ( grandfather of H.J. Muse) in 1832 ; and Catharine Martin his surviving widow, died at the same place in 1840. Both were buried in the family cemetery on the farm which John Martin Sr. had granted as a soldier of the Revolution, where their remains were till 1877, when, with those of all family which had been interred, were removed and now rest in the cemetery at Mt. Hope, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, and may be easily located by the stones, properly inscribed which mark the place of their interment. John Martin Sr. brought over the Alleghenies the old musket he carried in the Revolution and kept till, at his decease, it remained with his son, John Martin Jr. on the old homestead in the French Creek Valley until his decease, when it was given to John Martin the third son of John Martin Jr. and grandson of the Revolutioary soldier; and he carried it to his home in Nebraska and upon his decease in 1894, it passed to his son who still has it.

John Martin Jr.,was grandfather to P.W. Lupher who is the son of Mergaret Martin Lupher and Wesley Lupher.
