My Comments: You have one of the most wonderful websites I've seen yet - very "inviting"! I had made a connection to Mary Peyton Smith, through her father William's (b. 1700, son of Valentine) will of 1771 in a Culpeper Co. VA will book. Mary was actually first married to Samuel Orr who died 1767 in Culpeper Co. What drew me to this particular will was the name Peyton, as Mary's son William Smith (who is mentioned in her will from Nelson Co. KY Will Book A, 1795) had a son named William PEYTON Smith. Mary's will also happens to witnessed by John and Bryan Stone as is her father's will. She has a sister named Ann who married a Stone, so I'm assuming one of the Stone's may have been her husband. John Stone is listed on the Nelson Co. KY tax lists as is Mary. Unfortunately, I have yet to find the name of Mary's second husband Mr. Smith. With the early Culpeper marriages having been used for "fuel" it may not be an easy task. Her eldest son Samuel Orr sold property in Culpeper in 1784 and then appears in Nelson Co. KY as does Mary, so I believe Mr. Smith died in Virginia, possibly in the Revolution? Anyway, I thank you for your wonderful website. I was happy to find Mary's maiden name and thrilled to find so much history on her family. Let me know if you'd like details on this small branch of the family. Thanks again!

My Comments: Mrs. Barney, you have made my day. I've been researching my branch of the Peyton family (through west virginia) for a long time and even though I've managed to come up with a few numbers, I've never managed to find stories like the ones you've given me to read today. I'm new to Austin, and it's a wonderful thing to read that my very distant relatives have even had an impact down here, via Angelina Belle Peyton Eberly and the Archives War. My only complaint is that you stopped your records at 1832. Is there more info, and more fantastic stories that you have to share? Please email me!!
