Will of William DEPRIEST

In the Name of God Amen, I William DEPRIEST of the county of Henrico, being sick and
weak, but of sound mind and memory do make and declare this as my last Will and Testament,
hereby receeding any form of will by me made.
First, it is my will and desire that my executor's hereafter named do collect as soon as
possible all the money due me and that they discharge all my just debts as soon as possible and
after having done so, the money remaining in their hand, I desire may be paid to interest for the
maintenance and support of my wife and children.
Item, It is my will and desire that all and every part of my estate be left together, in the hands
of my executor's for and during the sum of ten years, for the joint support and maintenance of my
wife and children, unless it should so happen that my wife marries before the ten years. In that
case I lend to her the use of the plantation whereon I now live...during her natural life and also
one third part of my negro;s, and after her death, I give to my son William, the land so lent to
her, containing by estimation , two Hundred and fourteen acres, to him and his heirs forever.
Item, I give to my son Randall, my land in the county of Amherst, purchased of John
Depriest containing two hundred and fifty acres. To him and his heirs forever.
Item, it is my will and desire that in case of my children marry before my wife that my
executor's pay to the child or children so marrying their equal part of the money in their hands
belonging to my estate.
Item; it is my will and desire that in case my wife should marry and become possesed of the
land and negro's, before alloted to her, on that event, that then the remaining two thirds of my
negro's and other personal estate not particularly devised, be equally divided among all my
children share and share alike and at the death of my wife, I desire that the one third of my
negro's in her possession be equally divided among all my children.
Item, it is my desire that my executor's sell my lott of land in Richmond as soon as the case
made to Galt and Irving shall expire and the money arising therfrom I give to be equally divided
among all my children.
Lastly, I appoint my loving wife executrix, Turner SOUTHALL and Miles SELDEN,
executor's of this my last Will and Testament, In witness wereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal this 26th day of December, 1787.

At a monthly Court held for Henrico County at the Courthouse on Monday the 7th day of January
1788.
This will was proved by the oaths of Michael Turpin and George Kelsey, two of the
witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
