Joseph Huron's father was William Martin Back and his mother was Mary Lettie Goddard. His paternal grandparents were Martin Graves Back and Laura Etta Sloan. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Sidney Kenneth, Martin Thomas, Jack William, Lucy May, Laura Frances and Leila.-
