Hannah was born on January 9th, 1789 in Weare, Hillsborough, New Hampshire. Hannah's father is Philip Sargent and her mother is Martha Pattee. Her paternal grandparents were Phillip Sargent and Hannah Hadley. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John Pattee, Philip, Peter, Moses, Mathew H., Thomas W., Polly, Sally and Nancy. She is the second oldest of the ten children.-
