Sarah and Mathew were married in a religious ceremony about 1814. They had three sons and three daughters, named Mathew H., Peter, Samuel Andrew, Elizabeth, Dolly and Mary.

Mathew H. was born on December 19th, 1819 in New London, New Hampshire. He died at the age of 21 on April 21st, 1841.
