Matilda was born about 1050 in Normandy, France.  Matilda's father was William and her mother was Matilda De Flanders.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert II De Normandie and Herleva (Arletta) De Falaise; her maternal grandparents were Baudouin V Flanders and Adele Alix. She had two brothers and a sister, named Henry, Richard Fitz Pons Bychan and Adele.  She was the oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother named Walter.  She died on May 27th, 1085 in Castle Acre, Norfolk, England.  She was buried in 1085 in Priory of Lewes, Lewes, Sussex, England.

‌Matilda and William were married in a religious ceremony in 1077 in Nuestrie, Normandy, France.  They had a son and a daughter, named William II and Edith.
