Franklin Pierce was born on May 8th, 1845 in Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.  Franklin Pierce's father was Sargent Colby and his mother was Ruth Ann Colby.  His paternal grandfather was Samuel Colby and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Partridge. He had nine brothers and seven sisters, named Willard M., Matthew H., Horace S., John S., George B., George S., Caleb S., Orren E., Edward H., Melinda A., Emeline B., Sarah E., Lucretia P., Mary J., Susan M. and Louisa M..  He was the third youngest of the seventeen children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Henry S. and Mary J..  He died at the age of 75 on September 22nd, 1920 in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.
