Alexander was born on August 24th, 1198 in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland.  Alexander's father was William MacCrinan and his mother was Ermengarde De Beaumont.  His paternal grandparents were Henry MacCrinan and Adelaide De Warrene; his maternal grandparents were Richard I Seigneur De Beaumont and Lucie De l' Aigle. He had a half-sister named Isabel.  He died at the age of 50 on July 6th, 1249 in Isle of Kerrera, Strathclyde, Scotland.  He was buried on August 8th, 1249 in Melrose Abbey, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

‌Alexander and Joanna were married in a religious ceremony on June 25th, 1221.  They had a daughter named Dernell.

‌Alexander and Marie were married in a religious ceremony on May 15th, 1239 in Scotland.  They had a son named Alexander.
