His maternal grandparents were Daniel Hillard and Martha McDonald. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Nelson E., Emory Park, Della May, Laura Esther, Sarah Edith, Bertha Blanche, Cora Ethel and Flora Ethna. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 65 in November 1945 in Wood County, Ohio.-
