Philip was born in 1355 in Langstone, Llebenydd, Monmouthshire, England. Philip's father was Morgan Ap Llywelyn and his mother was Mallt Verch Rhun. His paternal grandparents were Llywelyn Ap Ifor and Angharad Verch Morgan; his maternal grandparents were Rhun Ap Gronwy and Joan Verch Aron. He was an only child. He died at the age of 27 in 1382 in Langstone, Llebenydd, Monmouthshire, England.-
