John Ayers 
John was born on June 4th, 1719 in Woodbridge Middlesex Co N.J..1 John's father was John Ayers and his mother was Mary Creshon. His paternal grandparents were John Ayers and Mary Walker. He was an only child. He died at the age of 57 on April 29th, 1777 in Morris Planes Morris Co N.J..1 General Notes
John Ayers' name is frequently mentioned in the History of the First Presb
yterian Church of Morristown, NJ., and the records show him to have be
en a ruling elder in 1769, and among the subscriptions taken Ja. 5, 1769 f
or the aid of Princeton College his name appears as contributing nie pound
s, which was a large sum for those times.
His name is records in the Military records of New Jersey as a Private Min
ute Man in the Morris county Militia, also Private in the New Jersey Sta
te Troops. He died at Morris Plains April 29, 1777 of smallpox which w
as very fatal at this time and carried off large numbers of Wachington's a
rmy, which was encamped at Morristown that winter.
His will, made april 14, 1777, is records May 3, 1777 in Trenton Lib 18 f
