Aimer was born about 1160 in Angouleme, Charebte-Maritime, France.  Aimer's father was William IV de Angouleme Taillefer and his mother was Marguerite De Turenne.  His paternal grandparents were Wougrin II Taillefer and Ponce De la Marche Montgomery; his maternal grandparents were Raimond I De Turenne and Matilda Maude Felicie Perche. He had two half-brothers named Wulgrim III and Adhemir (Aymar) V.  He died in 1218 in Limoges, Haute-Vienne, Limousin, France.  He was buried in 1202 in L'Abbey La Couroun, France.
