Maria was born about 1145 in Antakya (Antioch), Hatay, Turkey.  Maria's father was Raimund I d'Aquitaine et Poitou and her mother was Constantia de Hauteville.  Her paternal grandparents were William VII of Poitou and Philippa of Toulouse; her maternal grandparents were Bohemond II Guiscard of Antioch and Alice of Jerusalem. She had a brother and a sister, named Bohemond III of and Philippa of. She had a half-sister named Agnes.  She died on August 27th, 1182 in Executed by Andronicus I Comnenus.  She was buried in in an unmarked grave on a local beach.

‌Maria and Manuel I were married in a religious ceremony on March 25th, 1161 in Antakya, Hatay, Turkey.  They had a son and a daughter, named Alexios II and Eudoxia.
