Mahaut (Maud) was born in Louvain, Belgium.  Mahaut (Maud)'s father was Lambert II of Louvain and her mother was Gerberga De Lorraine.  Her paternal grandparents were Regnier III de Hainault and Adelaide of Dagsbourg; her maternal grandparents were Charles (Karl) Lothringen and Adelheid of Lorraine. She had two brothers named Lambert III (Baudry) "The Belted" and Henry of.  She died after 1040.

‌Mahaut (Maud) and Eustace I were married in a religious ceremony about 1022 in Brabant, Belgium.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Lambert of, Eustace of and Ida.
