Hermann's father was Godfrey "The Prisoner" de Verdun and his mother was Mahaud Billung of Saxony. His paternal grandparents were Gozelin of Bidgau and Uda of Metz; his maternal grandparents were Hermann Billung and Hildegardis von Westerberg. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Gozelon, Adalbero, Frederic, Godefroi, Ermentrude, Regilla, Adelheid of and Irmgard. He died on May 28th, 1029.-
