Osborn was born in Spartanburg District, South Carolina. Osborn's father was Cyrus Seay and his mother was Nancy Wingo. His paternal grandparents were Jesse Gideon Seay and Betsy Lyon; his maternal grandparents were John (D. F.) Washington Wingo and Sarah Rucker. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Josiah, William, Ransom, John, James Madison, Cyrus, Mary Polly and Patience. He died on December 20th, 1865 in Dawson Co, Georgia.General Notes
