Gertrude was born about 1225 in Hohenberg, Schwarzwaldkreis, Bavaria.  Gertrude's father was Burchard III Von Hohenberg and her mother was Mathilde Von T Bingen Horb.  Her paternal grandfather was Burchard II Von Hohenberg; her maternal grandparents were Rudolf II Van Tubingen and Adelheid of Wurttemberg. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Albrecht II, Burkhard, Ulrich, Mathilde and Anna.  She was the oldest of the six children.  She died in 1288 in Basel, Switzerland.
