Devorgilla was born in Fotheringhay Castle, Galloway, Scotland.  Devorgilla's father was Alan of Galloway and her mother was Princess of Scotland.  Her paternal grandparents were Roland MacDonald and Helena De Morville; her maternal grandparents were David of Scotland and Maud De Meshines. She had a sister named Christian. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Thomas, Ellen, FNU, Daughter and Helen or Elena of.  She was buried in Sweetheart Abbey, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.


Devorgilla's family with John I De Baliol

‌Devorgilla and John I were married in a religious ceremony in 1233 in Galloway, Scotland.  They had five sons and six daughters, named Hugh, Alexander, Alan, William, John II, Cecily, Eleanor (Alianora), Mary, Euphemia, Margaret and Ada.
