Matilda was born in Flanders.  Matilda's father was Baudouin V of Flanders and her mother was Adele (Alix) Capet of France.  Her paternal grandparents were Baldwin IV of Flanders and Otgiva of Luxembourg; her maternal grandparents were Robert Magnus and Constance of Provence. She had three brothers named Robert I of, Henry and Baldwin I of. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named William of, Robert the Burgundian, Helene and Judith.  She died on November 2nd, 1083 in Caen, Calvados, France.  She was buried in Holy Trinity Abbey, Caen, France.


Matilda's family with William I of Normandy

‌Matilda and William I of were married in a religious ceremony in 1050 in Angi Castle, Angi, Normandy, France.  They had four sons and four daughters, named Richard, Henry I 'Beauclerc' of, Robert "Curthose" of, William, Gundreda of, Alice, Cicily and Constance.
