Pierre II was born about 1155 in Courtenay, Gatinais, Isle-de-France, France.  Pierre II's father was Pierre I De Courtenay and his mother was Elizabeth Isabelle De Courtenay.  His paternal grandparents were Louis VI Capet of France and Adelheid di Savoia; his maternal grandparents were Renaud De Courtenay and Hawise De Donjon. He had a sister named Alix Adelaide De Joigny Courtenay.  He was the older of the two children.  He died in Epirus, Byzantine Empire, Greece.

Pierre II's first family with Yolande of Flanders

‌Pierre II and Yolande of were married in a religious ceremony before July 1st, 1193 in Soissons, France.  They had four sons and six daughters, named Henry, Baldwin II of, Philip, Robert, Eleanor, Yolande, Agnes, Elizabeth, Margaret and Marie.
