Edna Hannah was born on March 9th, 1897. Edna Hannah's father was Arthur Otis Cropper and her mother was Mathilda Catherina Christjana Bendixen. Her maternal grandparents were Volkert Heinrich Bendixen and Johanna Wilhelmina Knudsen. She had three sisters named Ethel May, Elsie Ida and Lydia Ruth. She was the second oldest of the four children.-
