Joan was born in 1328 in Kinderton,Chestershire,England.1   Joan's father was Sir Knight Hugh Venables and her mother is Katherine *Houghton.  Her paternal grandfather was 6th Baron Kinderton Hugh Venables and her paternal grandmother is Agatha *Vernon. She has four brothers named Roger, Hugh, Thomas and Richard.  She is the oldest of the five children. She has two half-brothers and a half-sister, named William, John and Anilla.
