Her paternal grandfather was Harmon Riddle and her paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Easley; her maternal grandfather is Isaac or Solmon Bynum. She had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Benjamin Preston, Thomas, Alexander, Sarah and Martha. She is the second youngest of the seven children.-
