William was born in 1289. William's father was Lord of Thunnock, Sir Richard Cornwall and his mother is Joan *St. Owen. His paternal grandfather was Richard (The Lion Hearted) *Plantagenet and his paternal grandmother is Joan *Valletort. He had three brothers and a sister, named Edmund, Richard, Geoffrey and Joan. He is the youngest of the five children.
