Hugh *Black 
Hugh was born in 1764 in Moore County,North Carolina. Hugh's father was Kenneth Black and his mother was Catherine (Kate) Patterson. His paternal grandfather was Malcolm Black and his paternal grandmother is Catherine Mac Arthur; his maternal grandparents were Malcolm Patterson and Catherine Unknown. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Archibald K., John, Malcolm, Margaret and Effie. He is the third oldest of the six children.-
