Alfonso, known as The Chaste, was born on April 4th, 1152 in Villa Mayor Del Valle,Aragon,Spain.  The Chaste's father was Count of Barcelona, Ruler of Aragon Ramon (Raymond) (The Saint) Berenger IV and his mother was Queen of Aragon Petronilla Ramirez Aragon.  His paternal grandparents were Count of Barcelona Ramon (Raymond) (el Grande) Berenger III and Dulce Aldonza Milaud Gevaudan; his maternal grandfather was Count of Ribagorza and Sobrarbe, King of Aragon Ramiro Sanchez (The Monk) Aragon II and his maternal grandmother is Maud(Agnes) *Aquitaine. He had a brother and a sister, named Ramon (Raymond) and Dulce.  He died at the age of 44 on April 25th, 1196 in Perpignan,Pyrennes-Orientales,France.


The Chaste's family with Princess of Castile, Queen of Aragon Sancha Alfonsez Castile

‌The Chaste and Sancha Alfonsez were married in a religious ceremony in Aragon,Spain.  They had four sons and four daughters, and also a child of unknown gender, named Pedro, Alfonso, Sancho, Ramon, Constance Alphonez, Dulce, Sancha, Fernando and Leonor.
