Frederick VIII (1843-1912), king of Denmark (1906-12), born in Copenhagen, and
educated at the University of Oxford. He succeeded to the throne on the death
of his father, Christian IX. His son, Prince Charles, became HÃ¥kon VII, king
of Norway, in 1905. Frederick was a brother of Alexandra, queen consort of
Great Britain, and of George I, king of Greece.
