Daniel Payne was born Jan. 23, 1747/8, in Lebanon, Conn., the son of Benjamin and Mehitable (Dimock) Payne; married, May 4, 1769, Elizabeth Wright of Lebanon, Conn., by Rev. ____ Stout. After his death she married again. She was considered the prettiest girl in Lebanon, Conn. She was of fleshy build and a great singer. They moved from Lebanon, Conn., to Spencertown, Columbia County, N.Y., and about 1798 moved to the Swezey Hill neighborhood. Daniel Payne served in the American Revolution in the 8th Co., 7th Regiment of Connecticut Troops. Daniel Payne died May 29, 1813, and is buried in the Swezey Hill
Cemetery.
