Richard was born about 1379 in of Saredon Parva, Ellenhall, Staffordshire, England. Richard's father was Thomas de Harcourt and his mother was Maud (Matilda) Grey. His paternal grandparents were William Harcourt and Jane (Joan) Grey; his maternal grandparents are John Grey and Margaret Issingseles. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Thomas, Robert, Anne, Jane, Catherine and Isabel. He is the fourth oldest of the eight children.General Notes
