Esten was born in 1703 in Setereng, , , Norway. Esten's father is Nils Estensen and his mother is Marit Hansdatter. His paternal grandparents were Esten Eriksen and Kjersti Olsdatter; his maternal grandfather is Hans Engebrektsen and his maternal grandmother was Kari Pedersdatter. He had two brothers and a sister, named Hans, Per and Randi. He died about 1752.General Notes
