His paternal grandfather was John de Cobham and his paternal grandmother is Maud (Joane) FitzBenedict; his maternal grandfather is Robert de Septvans. He had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Henry, John, Roger, Thomas, Ralph, Joan and Miss. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died about 1327.1 General Notes
