Arrived in Virginia aboard the ship - Mary & James in the year 161 0.
Mary Tucker arrived on the ship - George 1623. William sent back to
E ngland for his bride.
SOURCE:(same as above) He is listed as 36 years, Mary Tu cker listed as 26
years and daughter Elizabeth born August 1624 in Virginia. - Muster of
Inhabitants of Virginia January 20, 1625.
SOURCE: Sir George Yea rdly appointed as governor of the colony of
Virginia. William Tucker is memb er of governor's council.
He was a member of the House of Burgesses 1623-4, appointed to the Counci
l, March 4, 1626, and was the first justice in Elizabeth City in 163
2. He was one of the greatest Merchants of his time in Virginia. in the ce
nsus of 1625 his wife is
given as Mary (born 1599) who came to Virginia in 1623 and they then had o
ne child, Elizabeth, born in Virginia. Maurice, George, Paul, and Willi
am Thompson were brothers of his wife mary. He had evidently married a sec
ond time, Frances.
William Tucker and his brothers were investors and founders of the Jamesto
wn Colony. William Tucker was on the Council of The Colony of Virgin
ia in 1623 and also served as a member of the House of Burgesses in 1619 a
nd again in 1623-24
