George was born in 1401 in Nettlestead, Suffolk, England.1 George's father was Philip Despencer and his mother was Elizabeth De Tibetot. His paternal grandparents were Philip Le Despencer and Elizabeth Despencer; his maternal grandparents were Robert Tiptoft and Margaret Deincourt. He had a brother and four sisters, named Philip, Hawise, Margaret, Elizabeth and Margery. He is the third youngest of the six children. He had a half-brother named Philip.-
