Benjamin was born in 1775 in Rowan, NC, USA.1 Benjamin's father was Nicholas Brewer and his mother was Sarah Brewer. His paternal grandparents were George Brewer and Sarah Lanier. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Nicholas, William, Thomas, Mark, Ancil, Solomon, Elizabeth, Drury and Rebecca. He was the youngest of the ten children.
