General Notes

In his will dated 3 Sep 1620 and proved 12 Apr 1621, Jeremy Osborn, ofAshf
ord, tanner, left 20 shillings to the poor o fAshford. To his son Josep
h, he left his "Turky carpett," and to his son Richard, his "silver cupp a
nd two silver spoones with knobs." To his son, Thomas, he left "seaven sil
ver spoons" andhis "Tanning vessels, etc." And he adds, "The resid
ue of my household stuff to be divided between my said sons, with provi
so that Cunstance my wife have so much of my plate and household stu
ff as she shall think fit for her life. Also to my wife, all the money s
he had inn her keeping. The residue of my goods and chattels to my son Jos
eph." The executor was his son, Joseph.The overseers were John Walleis a
nd Jeremy's uncle, Robert Hunt.
Jeremy left specified lands and tenements to his wife,Constance, for lif
e. To his son, Joseph, he bequeathed "amessmacge," and "lands and tenemen
ts sometime Robert Mellows." Toson, Thomas, he left "the tan house for fi
ve years, paying rentfor 20 shillings a year therefore to Joseph and allow
ing him aconvenient way to the malthouse and river." To son, Richard, hele
ft specified lands in the parishes of St. Dunstans(Canterbury), Eberry, Wi
llesborough, and Ashford "late Richard Haldens."
