His paternal grandparents were Coert Albertse van Voorhees and Mergin (Hendrikje); his maternal grandfather was Roelof Lukassen SEBRING and his maternal grandmother is (Mrs) SEUBERING. He had nine brothers and six sisters, named Hendrickjen Stevense, Merghin Stevense, Coert Stephense, Cheri Stevense, Johannes Coerte, Lucas Stevense, Jans Stevense, Albert Stevense, Abraham Stevense, Mergin Stevense, Hendrickje Stevense, Aaltje (Aelte) Stevense, Altje Stevense, Jannetje Stevense and Hendrickje Stevense.
