Isabella was born in 1190 in Arundel Castle,Arundel,West Sussex,England. Isabella's father was William III d'Aubigny 3rd Earl of Arundel and Sussex and her mother was Mabel De Meschines. Her paternal grandparents were William II le Breton d'Aubigny Earl of Sussex and Maud or Matilda de St. Hilary du Harcouet; her maternal grandparents were Hugh Keveliok (3Rd Earl) De Meschines and Bertrade d'Evreux Montfort. She had two brothers and six sisters, named William IV de, Hugh, Cecily, Colette, Cicely, Maud, Nichole and Isabella. She was the second oldest of the nine children.
