Rhiwallon Ap was born in 1025.  Rhiwallon Ap's father is Cynfyn Brenin Ap Gwerystan and his mother is Angharad Verch Maredudd.  His paternal grandparents are Gwaithford Ap Gwaithfoed and Nest Verch Cadell; his maternal grandfather is Maredydd Ap Owain. He had a brother and two sisters, named Bleddyn ap, Angharat Verch and Lwerydd Verch.  He is the youngest of the four children. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Griffith Gruffydd Ap, Gruffydd ap, Caradawg ap, Rhiwallon ap, Angharad verch, Iwerydd verch and Nest verch.
